Ad Redirection if URL isn't www?

Okay, maybe someone could explain this a bit better with some details.

Created a new website recently and I'm currently trying to understand why the main index page to the site isn't loading without a www. I've tried all my devices on this and I've come to notice that my website index page that I create only loads if I use http://www.websitename.com/?i=1

if I simply link someone with Http://websitename.com/ they are seeing Advertisement Page. I'm not sure if there is something I missed as I'm new to this service. How does one fix the redirection to head to index.html instead of http:www.sitename.com/?i=1 My visitors might type that url and if they do they will see the ads page?
